Welcome to Alveley Primary School

Alveley Maths Challenge

Each week, pupils across school will complete a 10 minute, timed maths challenge. The objective is to score 95% or above, in the given time. Your child's planner will indicate the challenge that they are currently on and, as with spellings, one of your child's weekly home learning tasks will be to practice the method for completing these challenges, or to have a couple of practises, so that they can swiftly move through them.

All completed challenges will be celebrated in assembly and a certificate given out.

Reading

At Alveley, we encourage daily reading, both at school and at home. We understand the importance of reading for developing language, spelling, imagination, empathy, patience, concentration and an understanding of the world.

We recognise Egmont UK's analysis that " children who read for pleasure simply do better in life. They have a better sense of well-being. They reach greater levels of attainment, in all subjects. By feeding knowledge, imagination and by engaging empathy, reading feeds children's growing humanity. Nothing less than children's life chances are at stake."

We have have put together some reading resources to help you with supporting reading at home.
