Welcome to Alveley Primary School

Beech 2024-2025

Summer 1

During the first half of the Summer Term Reception have enjoyed learning all about the Ocean. We have visiting the Great Barrier Reef on google Earth and  looked at different sea creatures and  corals. We have learnt how we can help to look after the Ocean and keep the sea creatures safe by cleaning up and recycling.

In literacy we have written descriptions of sea creatures, created a poster to encourage people to save the Ocean and written about our favourite parts of focus stories.

Maths lessons have been based around number up to 20 and using shape to compose pictures.

We have enjoyed many stories based around our topic, enjoyed practising for Sports Day in our PE sessions and had a great parent workshop!

Autumn 2

We have enjoyed learning about and celebrating different festivals this half term. We had our own Diwali Party, tried traditional foods and learnt a Bollywood dance.

Our trip to St Marys Church this half term to learn about the Nativity story and history of Church was enjoyed by everyone.

Everyone put on an amazing show for the Christmas service in Church and we enjoyed a class party on our last day of term.

Autumn 1

Beech class have settled well into the new school year. We have enjoyed learning all about ourself in our topic Marvellous Me and then extended this to look at people who help us in our wider community with visits from Alveley Community First Responders and a Veterinary  Practitioner.

In literacy we have started to explore initial sounds and used this in our writing to label pictures. During maths we have explored sorting and grouping, measure, weight and capacity as well as looking at patterns.

We have read a variety of books so far this half term as well as leaning tongue twisters and lots of new vocabulary linked to our topics.
