Welcome to Alveley Primary School

Online Safety

At Alveley Primary School, online safety is a key part of our safeguarding provision. We are committed to helping children use technology safely, responsibly and respectfully, both in school and at home. Online safety is taught through our curriculum, assemblies and wider safeguarding work.

How We Keep Children Safe Online

Children are taught how to:

  • Stay safe when using the internet, apps and online games.
  • Protect their personal information.
  • Recognise and report online risks, including cyberbullying, inappropriate content and unwanted contact.
  • Think critically about information they see online, including misinformation and AI-generated content.
  • Be respectful and responsible digital citizens.

Support for Parents and Carers

Parents and carers play an important role in helping children stay safe online. We encourage families to:

  • Talk regularly with children about their online activity and who they communicate with online.
  • Use parental controls and privacy settings where appropriate.
  • Check age ratings for games, apps and social media platforms.
  • Encourage children to speak to a trusted adult if they have any concerns.
  • Set clear expectations for screen time and online behaviour.
  • Keep devices in shared family spaces where possible and take an interest in the websites, apps and games your child uses.
  • Remind children never to share personal information, passwords or photographs with people they do not know.
